Year to date precipitation totals8/3/2023 ![]() ![]() The maximum accumulation is over 24 hours, i.e., from day=D, time=0 to day=D 1,time=0 (step=24). For example, runoff at day=D, step=12 will provide runoff accumulated from day=D, time=0 to day=D, time=12. The accumulations in the short forecasts of ERA5-Land (with hourly steps from 01 to 24) are treated the same as those in ERA-Interim or ERA-Interim/Land, i.e., they are accumulated from the beginning of the forecast to the end of the forecast step. Rainfall totals are given for the past 7, 10, 14, 30, 60, and 90 days up to the current date, as well as the total for the current month, year, and previous year. The accumulations in monthly means have units that include " per second".ġ Please, note that the convention for accumulations used in ERA5-Land differs with that for ERA5. The Recent Rainfall table shows the total rainfall (in inches) for each Mesonet site. Only two years have seen less rainfall in Lafayette by April 11 than 2022 has, with just 6.17 inches falling at that point in 1981 and a meager 4.31 inches in 1907, according to NCDC data. This forms a base line for comparision of the current conditions to a long term period. We collect data year round and record measurements 5 days per week. In the climatological world, normals are defined as a 30 year average that is updated every 10 years. N/A For seasonal forecasts, as data only cover 7 months The table shows below shows monthly rainfall totals for Lynden, WA for the past 10. Where t 2 is the 1st day of month after the month of interest, t 1 is 1st day of month before t2, N is number of days in month of interest, SSR t2 is the SSR at t2, and SSR t1= is the SSR at t1. The data is processed in javascript and visualized here using HTML, CSS and javascript and the open source Plotly javascript graphing library.\( \text \) You can hover (or click) on the graph to audit the data a little more clearly.ĭata is downloaded from the California Data Exchange Center website of the California Department of Water Resources using a python script. It also shows the present precipitation level and its percentile within the historical data for the day of the water year. You can see the current water year plotted on this to show how it compares to historical values. County-based monthly precipitation totals are calculated using an average of all available full-month. The water year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends. The second graph shows the percentiles of precipitation over the course of the historical water year, spreading out like a cone from the start of the water year (October 1). Preliminary Precipitation Data (inches) by County. The top graph is a histogram of water year precipitation totals on the specified date (in blue) as well as the precipitation total for the current water year in red.
